Our society is attached to getting approval. There is no other place more attached to approval than social media. There are some people who will go to extreme lengths, so they get the approval they think they need.
Hint: Try not to focus on the people who are not really there. There are a lot of fake accounts. Focus on the people you know first-hand and the rest will come naturally.
I have a few simple tips listed below on how you get others more interested in you the natural way.
1) The hashtag
Some argue that you need one, while others say you do not. It is better to pick a dedicated hashtag and stay with it if you are going to use one. Learn how to cross-promote the hashtag whenever you are on social media.
Do you have one you use on Facebook a lot? Cross-reference it to your other platforms. That way you can be found no matter which platform you use.
Do you want to promote a new product for your audience? Use the promotion across the board. You kind of need to force the horse to the water if you want them to drink. They are not going to come to find you on their own. In some ways, people are very lazy. They will make you work for it.
Sometimes you have to get creative with what you do. You cannot keep doing the same thing day in and out. Social media is like a drug. You need to see what incentives them to check your site out. Be original in everything you do. I know that is hard since we live in the copycat age but try it.
Be the voice that your followers have not heard before. It is similar to how people tune others out after they have heard the same line over and over. They may not listen to the same person, but they will listen to a third party.
You will need to talk to people. That may come easier to some people. It depends on how much you like to talk. Get involved with current conversations. Hear what they have to say. The conversation may not be your “cup of tea”, but you can learn something from the group. You can use that on your page in the future.
People do get interested in the details, it just depends on what it is. They may not be interested in a “book version”, but they are interested in hearing what is going around the water cooler. Try to be as descriptive as you can be with your captions. The more descriptive your ideas are, the more your audience will want to know.

Lastly, if all else fails and you need that little boost, you can always buy real Instagram followers to help give your account that extra push.
